Tension. Juxtaposition. Contrast. Fun. **Kristina Contes**

Let me first thank Kristina Contes for being our guest Slammer this week. I have always loved her rebellious style and her willingness to create for the sake of creating. Have fun with this week’s prompt and SLAM ON!

One of my favorite ways to spice up a page is by creating tension.
Mixing up big/little. Rough/smooth. Messy/sleek.  Combing opposites is
just way too fun. By playing with balance, texture and whitespace, you
can create really simple pieces that speak volumes.  I love the
fingerprint-like texture of the woodgrain letterpress next to the
sleekness of the transparency. The roughness of the glitter emboss and
then starkness of the word “don’t”. A messy, painted background with
sparkly sequin ribbon. The shiny transparency on top of the cork. When
the contrast is this visually stimulating, you don’t need to add a
bunch of journaling or titles. When I look back through my books and
cards, it seems these simple pieces always evoke the most complex
feelings. So this week I challenge you to use less and have it say
more. Practice mixing it up and playing with opposites.

Tension. Juxtaposition. Contrast. Fun.

Stumble it! Stumble It!

this is what I love about Kristina’s work. eing able to say a lot with a little. I am so not good at that. I can’t wait to tackle this challenge and see if I can make myself do less.

Thanks for the challenge, Kristina and thanks for the Art Slam, Lucrecer. They are completely inspiring me right now!!!

ah, this is very interesting, I like the look of the third one, it looks like wood, but then again it looks like a blown up ‘relief” of a fingerprint, hmm,,, I feel an idea coming along, if I can find some cyan ink, maybe I can get my printer to work
